Theatre Group
London is the home of live theatre, with the biggest and most exciting theatre scene in the world. Many people do not realise that in addition to the 40 or so theatres in London’s renowned West End, there are also another 200 “off West End” theatres of all shapes and sizes within the boundaries of London, which offer vibrant, diverse and affordable theatre.
The Theatre Group exists to introduce members to the range of theatre that London has to offer and to enable members and partners to share their enjoyment of theatre with other members. We visit a wide range of West End and Off West End theatres.
AWC theatre events operate on a ‘purchase your own ticket’ basis. With a wide range of ticket prices available, this enables attendees to purchase tickets priced to their budget.
Matinees
Theatre Matinees are usually held on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon, but occasionally we will schedule a weekend matinee to allow working members to attend. The most common starting time is 2.30 pm but can vary between 2.00pm and 3.00pm.
Typically, there will be the opportunity for attendees to meet after the performance for a drink at a nearby pub to chat and discuss the show. Sometimes we also arrange lunch before a show for interested members.
Evenings
Evening performances enable our working members to attend a night at the theatre, in the company of partners or a friend if they wish. Usually there will be the opportunity to meet for a drink (or sometimes a meal) before the show and chat to other members.
Starting times for evening performances are typically 7.30 pm but can range from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.
